35 years of leading non profit organizations gave me the skills to step in where you need me.
Interim CEO: A leadership transition can be a challenge for any organization. Jonathan is available on an interim basis to provide short-term leadership ensuring that the organization continues to operate effectively and successfully until a new CEO is brought on board.
Part time CFO: Non profits, particularly smaller ones, frequently lack the resources to hire a staff person exclusively dedicated to fiscal matters. As a result, the Executive Director is required to take on the work of a CFO. Jonathan can fill that role by providing regular fiscal oversight, assisting the ED, Board, and staff in interpreting financial statements, and in creating a long range financial plan.
Project Development: Non profits regularly need to develop and find funding for new projects to fulfill their missions but sometimes lack the necessary staff or can be reluctant to create additional, permanent positions. Jonathan can step in to undertake such a project, see it to completion, and leave the organization with the outcome it desires andwithout permanent obligations.
Mentorship: Non profit leaders are often isolated, responsible to their boards, staff, and constituencies without someone to provide advice and support. Jonathan can serve as a consultant to the CEO making suggestions, providing guidance, and acting as a sounding board.
Expanding Organization Capacity: Often non profit organizations suffer from under-staffing, so that activities requiring expertise and content knowledge have to be assumed by the CEO, which results in lost opportunities when other priorities demand attention. Jonathan can take on leadership of a particular project temporarily and on short notice to enhance an organization’s ability to respond quickly to opportunities.
Economic Development Programing: Jonathan has engaged in various aspects of economic development throughout his career, including tourism marketing, business recruiting, industry group creation, infrastructure development, and management of start-up services. He can apply his knowledge and understanding of the issues involved wherever his expertise is required.
Grant Writing: Jonathan has written successful grant applications to over 20 separate federal, state and local governmental entities as well as to private and corporate foundations. He has raised millions of dollars for the organizations under his leadership. This far-reaching expertise is available to non profit groups in search of funding.
